Peel-and-stick is the fastest-growing wallpaper category in America, and half of the calls we get about it are rescues. Here is our honest policy.
Premium removable papers — Tempaper, Chasing Paper, Livette's, the better Spoonflower and Rebel Walls lines — are real products with real adhesives, and on a smooth, clean, cured wall they look excellent and come off clean. We install them, we like them for rentals and nurseries, and we'll tell you which ones we trust.
What doesn't work is any peel-and-stick on a textured wall, on fresh paint, or in a steamy bathroom. The adhesive only touches the tops of the texture, the corners lift within weeks, and the edges curl. Bargain vinyl from a marketplace is worse: thin, stretchy, and impossible to align across a wall.
Nursery, premium removable printWe install: premium removable papers on smooth, primed or cured painted walls, in bedrooms, nurseries, offices, closets, laundry rooms and powder rooms without showers. Layout, plumb lines, pattern matching, seams overlapped and trimmed, edges pressed and sealed.
We rescue: DIY jobs with bubbles, misaligned patterns and lifting corners. Often we can re-hang the existing strips; sometimes the honest answer is to strip it and start over with a traditional paper. We'll tell you which before we quote.
We'll talk you out of: peel-and-stick on orange-peel or knockdown texture (skim-coat first, or choose a traditional paper), in full bathrooms, or over paint that's less than four weeks old. And bargain rolls with no brand on them — we'd rather lose the job than hang something that fails in a month.
The better answer, most of the time: a traditional non-woven paper costs about the same per roll from the same brands, hangs cleaner, lasts for years, and still strips off in full sheets when you're ready for a change.
