Is Backdrop wallpaper peel-and-stick like the paint swatches, or does it need paste?

Most of it needs paste: Backdrop's core line is traditional non-woven, hung paste-the-wall with butted seams, and its sisal-textured papers and mural panel sets are also paste-up products. Only a few designs (such as Joana Avillez's Street Scenes) are peel-and-stick, and those follow Backdrop's separate manual: smooth painted walls, 4-week paint cure, and a hairline 1/32 in overlap at seams.

Can Backdrop peel-and-stick go over the orange-peel texture in my house?

Backdrop's Peel & Stick manual lists textured walls as unsuitable, along with existing wallpaper, brick, cinderblock and unpainted drywall or plaster. For a textured Utah wall we skim-coat, sand, prime and paint (then wait the 4 weeks Backdrop requires for cure) before hanging; the non-woven papers are more forgiving over a properly skimmed and primed wall than the peel-and-stick film.

Are these really Schumacher designs at a lower price, and does that change how they install?

Yes - ARCHIVE by Backdrop reissues patterns from Schumacher's 135-year archive, and Backdrop x Schumacher designs like New Beat and Tanbark are sold both ways; Backdrop prices from $34 per yard in 5- and 10-yard rolls, while the Schumacher-branded 27 in x 10 yd rolls list at roughly $455-$595 through the trade. Installation is the same non-woven paste-the-wall method, so the savings come from buying direct, not from a lighter product; we still check dye lots and hang to the panel plan for mural sets.

Backdrop's Peel & Stick manual: walls must be smooth, dry, clean and firm; clean with warm water only and leave no soap or cleaner residue; let new paint cure at least 4 weeks before application.
